From Pre-Spring to Pre-Summer: A Little Revamp Adventure
Hello lovely readers!
It’s that time again—the magical in-between season where the last bits of spring are still hanging around, but the whispers of summer are already calling. And you know what that means for me: time for a revamp!
(Cue the joyful chaos.)
Before you imagine me gracefully switching out a few pillows and lighting a summer candle—let me be real with you. Revamping my living room and office space starts with making a giant mess. We're talking piles of cushions, rolled-up rugs, random vases lined up like little soldiers, and a floor that looks like a vintage market exploded. It’s all part of the magic. You need a glorious mess before you can find your new blank canvas!
The Art of Controlled Chaos
I empty corners, shift furniture, and stare dramatically into the distance (you know, for creative effect). The goal is simple: freshen up the vibe from cozy pre-spring into that lighter, breezier pre-summer feeling. Think linen throws replacing chunky knits, fresh greens popping up where winter branches once stood, and maybe a few more seaside treasures making their way onto shelves.
Lighten Up the Mood
In the living room, I swap out my heavier textiles for soft, airy fabrics—goodbye kelim, hello cotton and linen! Whites, soft sands, gentle ocean blues, and greens that feel like a breath of fresh, coastal air sneak into my color palette. In my office, I clear the "winter work nest" (aka clutter, no idea how that creeps in) and bring in some lightness: bare wooden surfaces, a sprig of eucalyptus, and sunlight streaming in the half open shutters.
Small Changes, Big Impact
And here’s my little secret: I save all my winter and summer vibe items carefully in storage boxes. That way, when the seasons change, I don’t need to run out and spend a fortune to create a new look. I simply dive into my own treasure chest of goodies! Sometimes I even bring a few pieces back to the vintage or second-hand shop to swap them for some "new" finds — super budget-friendly and oh-so-satisfying.
(Just between us: I might be a little ruthless with the swapping, but my precious heritage jewelry and sentimental treasures always keep their shining spotlight spots. Some things are just too dear to move!)
Playful Tip:
Sometimes I use my camera or phone to look through the lens at a room. It's amazing how a different view can suddenly show you exactly what a space needs—or inspire a completely new idea! Do give it a try.
The Whimsical Finale
After the glorious chaos, the rearranging, and those funny moments of self-doubt ("Maybe I should just move to a new house instead?"), a beautiful thing happens: The room feels new, fresh, alive, like it’s letting out a big, happy summer sigh.
So if you’re itching for a little change, don’t be afraid of the mess. Dive in, have fun, let the pillows fly, and trust that a light, happy, pre-summer vibe is just waiting to be uncovered.
Happy revamping, my beautiful mess-makers!
Love, Dagmar
