My Guilty Pleasure for Unique Finds
Alright, it’s time to come clean—I am a sucker for ceramics. Not just any ceramics, but the kind that make you stop and stare. Big, small, XXL, handmade, and utterly unique.
Whether it’s bowls, mugs, or vases, I simply can’t resist. My cupboards are practically bursting at the seams with all shapes and sizes, and yet…I still want more!
The Ceramic Obsession is Real
It started innocently enough. A cute little bowl here, a charming mug there. Before I knew it, I had a full-blown collection—ceramics in every size, color, and texture imaginable (Okay okay, lets be fair, beige and browns are favorits). From artisanal pottery to rustic vases, they’ve all found their way into my home (and my heart). My kitchen cupboards? Let’s just say they’re working overtime to hold them all!
Holiday Ceramic Smuggling: The Struggle is Real
It’s not just at home where this obsession takes hold. Even on holiday, I find myself on the lookout for ceramics. You know how most people come back from a trip with postcards or a fridge magnet? Not me—I’m the one trying to smuggle bowls, mugs, and vases into my suitcase without going over the weight limit. Handcrafted, one-of-a-kind ceramics are just too good to pass up, no matter where I am. I’ve mastered the art of packing around them, but let’s be honest, I’ve had my fair share of “uh-oh” moments at the airport.
More Than I Can Handle
At this point, it’s safe to say I have more ceramics than I can handle. But here’s the thing—each piece is so unique and special that I can’t bear to part with them. Well, at least not right away. Eventually, I do start to share the ceramic love by giving them away as gifts. And let me tell you, ceramics make the best presents. They’re practical, beautiful, and always appreciated. Plus, it’s a win-win for me—I get to make space for even more ceramics!
Ceramics as Décor
What I love most about ceramics is their versatility. They’re not just for the kitchen—oh no, these beauties are perfect for displaying around the house. Fill them with fruit, display some dried flowers, or even leave them empty as a statement piece. A well-crafted ceramic mug, bowl, or vase can bring texture and warmth to any space. And when they’re handmade and unique, they add that extra touch of personality that makes a room feel one-of-a-kind.
The Never-Ending Hunt
So, the hunt continues. I’m always on the lookout for my next favorite ceramic piece—one that’s a little different from the rest, with a story all its own. My guilty pleasure might be filling my cupboards to the brim, but honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
My Top Tip for Fellow Ceramic Lovers
If you’re like me and can’t resist a stunning ceramic, here’s my advice: embrace it! Just make sure you have enough cupboard space :-). And don’t be afraid to share the love—give them as gifts, use them in creative ways, and most importantly, enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of each one.
Enjoy the 'ceramic bug'!
