A Journey of Rebuilding, Crafting, and Creating Warmth

Welcome to my home, a space where every corner tells a story, and every room is filled with memories, warmth, and my love for natural materials and timeless design. Rebuilding this home from the ground up has been a labor of love, transforming what was once just a shell of outside walls into a cozy, beige-toned sanctuary filled with heart and character.

Let me take you on a tour through the journey of turning this blank canvas into a home where family, friends, and now you—my dear readers—are always welcome.

A Blank Canvas: Starting from Scratch

When we first got our hands on this house, it was literally just the outer walls standing. Everything inside had to be rebuilt from scratch. At first, it was daunting, but at the same time, I saw endless possibilities. This blank canvas gave me the chance to bring my vision to life—a home that’s serene, natural, and filled with warm beige tones, reflecting my love for nature and timeless beauty.

Creating Warmth with Natural Tones

From the start, I knew I wanted to work with a color palette inspired by nature—beige, soft whites, sandy hues, and the occasional pop of earthy browns. These colors create a sense of calm and serenity that invites you to unwind. Every room in this home has been carefully thought out to reflect that feeling, from the cozy living room to the airy kitchen and even the serene bathroom.

By layering different shades of beige and white, I’ve created a space that feels both grounded and inviting. Each room flows effortlessly into the next, with a natural cohesiveness that makes the home feel connected.

The Hug Couch: The Heart of the Living Room

One of my favorite spots in the entire house is our hug couch in the living room. It’s oversized, soft linnen, and the coziest place to relax. It feels like you’re wrapped in a giant hug whenever you sink into it! Whether it’s a family movie night, hosting friends, or simply curling up with a good book, this couch is where we gather. It’s the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the warmth of our home, surrounded by soft beige tones and natural textures.

The Heart of the Home: Our Kitchen Transformation

The kitchen was one of the most important parts of this transformation. It’s the heart of our home, where we gather, cook, and make memories together. We wanted it to feel warm, rustic, and timeless. Using drawers for the cabinets in a soft taupe color gave the space a pebble kinda look and grounded feel, while soft beige walls provided the perfect backdrop.

We installed an big sink, and the countertops were made from ceramic in a bespoke style of dark browns , adding texture and depth. To add a touch of vintage charm, I sourced old French items to place on the counter corner that complement the neutral tones, giving the kitchen a subtle yet stunning character.

The Bathroom: A Serene Oasis

The bathroom was another big project. I wanted it to feel like a spa—a place where you could escape the world and just relax. Natural stone tiles as a feature wall and a humungous bathtub were the stars of the show. We chose soft beige walls and paired them with linen towels and woven baskets to add texture and warmth. And I found amazing was bowls that are created from one big rock, talking about uniqueness!

Old French Castle Doors: A Piece of History

One of my favorite elements in the house is the old wooden doors we found from a French castle. They were weathered, worn, and absolutely perfect. I decided to leave them bare, not sanded or painted, so they could continue to tell their story. These doors are more than just entrances—they're a welcome into my creative workspace. As you pass through them, you enter the room where I keep some of my most treasured items.

In this space, I’m surrounded by vintage finds and cherished pieces, including an amazing painting from my best friend in Seattle, Beverly Ash Gilbert. Her artwork is the centerpiece of the room, full of soft and soothing colors and energy that bring joy and creativity into my everyday life. It’s a piece I hold dear, not just for its beauty but because it reminds me of the friendship and inspiration that comes from those we love.

Mixing Old and New: A Personal Touch

One of the things that make this house special to me is the mix of old and new. Throughout the home, you’ll find vintage treasures I’ve collected over the years, from flea markets and antique stores, carefully integrated into the modern, beige-toned space. Whether it’s an old wooden chest in the hall way or vintage ceramic bowls in the kitchen, these items bring personality and history into the home.

I love giving new life to old things, blending them seamlessly into a fresh, natural scheme. It’s all about balance—making sure the old pieces can shine while creating a cohesive, serene space.

Engaging Your Senses: A Home to Feel and Experience

I’ve always believed that a home isn’t just about how it looks; it’s about how it feels. From the soft linen curtains that flutter in the breeze to the warmth of the reclaimed wood underfoot, every element in this home is meant to engage the senses. The natural materials, the earthy colors, the textures—they all come together to create a space that feels calm, grounded, and connected to nature.

I want you to feel that sense of peace and connection when you visit, whether in person or through my words and photos.

Take My Ideas into Your Own Home

I hope this tour of my home inspires you to bring a little of this warmth and natural beauty into your own space. You don’t need a full renovation or a huge budget to create a similar feeling. Start with the basics—a neutral color palette, natural materials like wood, linen, and stone, and meaningful pieces that tell your own story.

Use what you already have and build from there. An old piece of furniture can be given new life with a simple touch, whether it’s leaving the wood bare or painting it in a soft beige tone (or into the color you just adore). Incorporate vintage finds for added character, and let imperfections add to the charm.

In the end, it’s about creating a space that feels like you, where every piece tells a story and every corner feels warm and inviting.
